WELCOME! This is your one stop for everything you need or want for your fishing trip to the finest fishing in the Northeast. We have it all - lodging, guided trips, and a great time! ________________________________________________ December 9, 2011 Happy Holidays! The salmon river is currently packed with steelies. There are also some nice brown trout. Most of them are 4-6 lbs. with an occasional 8-10 pounder. Two weeks ago we had a few big runs of cohos. Last week I was deer hunting 15 miles up Orwell Creek and it was packed with cohos. It was awesome to just watch them spawn and leave them be. They are also scattered around the gravel in the salmon river. The steelhead fishing has varied from a good 10-15 hook ups a day to a great 20+ per day. The reason it has varied so much is because the water level the past month has gone up and down so much. But, now the water is going down to a more consistent winter level. Today it is 500 CFS and by Monday it will be 350 CFS which is the typical winter level. As most of you know the next two months are my favorite time of year - low fishing pressure and pools full of steelhead makes my life a lot easier! I'm catching fish on egg patterns still due to the cohos spawning, although last week I started crushing them on caddis patterns and stone flies. I think the best advice is to move around a lot and keep changing flies. Good Luck & Tight Lines!
